If you haven’t heard of TikTok, now’s the perfect time to get acquainted with the ever so popular app that’s taking over everyone’s attention!
You’ll be surprised at the lengths I took to do a “Baby Shark” video with my kids, but that’s a story for another time.
Seriously though…
TikTok is currently one of the fastest growing social media platforms across the world presenting a different creative look at online sharing.
Users can create short videos with background music or funny skits, add filters, and edit the video completely on the app.
But you don’t have to take my word for it, the statistics speaks for itself.
TikTok was launched in September 2016, and in the three years since its launch,
it has 500 million active users worldwide (Datareportal, 2019).
You may be thinking,
“Instagram and Facebook probably went through the same growth”,
but let me tell you, that’s just not the case!
From launch, it took Instagram SIX YEARS to gain the same amount of monthly active users; Facebook took nearly over four years.
If that doesn’t sound like an EXPLOSION in popularity, I’m not sure what does!
See for yourself what all the fuss is about by downloading the app right now, and taking a peak…
No worries, I’ll wait. 🙂
*Twiddles my thumbs
Now that you’ve taken a moment to see what it’s all about, you may be skimming through the videos thinking to yourself,
“Seriously Rachel, there’s nothing but teenagers on this app. How am I supposed to adapt my business to this audience…?”
Well, let’s get rid of those fears shall we?
Yes, 41 percent of TikTok users are aged between 16 and 24 (Globalwebindex, 2019), however, in less than 18 months, the number of adult users grew 5.5 times larger; that’s 14.3 million adult users as of March 2019.
Oh you payin attention now?!

Given that 90% of all TikTok users access the app on a daily basis, and spend around 52 minutes of their time on it (BusinessofApps, 2019), wouldn’t you say this is a no brainer?
For many years, my goal was to be an early adopter on a platform, but across the different social media platforms, I didn’t see any promising signs.
Tik Tok quickly got my attention and I started noticing some pretty fascinating things…
I think I had about 60 followers at the time, and I put up a video and the next morning I had 7,000 views!
MINDBLOWN!
I’ve never had this type of exponential growth happen to me before!
It took me a few months to be serious with TikTok, but I’m definitely not letting this opportunity pass me by, and neither should you.

You will see massive rewards if you’re an early adopter, so take action!
Check out the 10 perks of being an early adopter:
- Brand deals:
Brand deals (aka brand sponsorships) are when brands will pay you to feature their products or services in a creative way to your audience or followers.
- Exclusive features:
As the app improves, the brand will want it’s influencers to test and showcase what’s new to the app. This means you will be the first to access, test, and flaunt the new goodies TikTok will have to offer.
- Growth (that locks you in):
As an early adopter to the platform, your growth will be locked in as you continue to create content. Although the algorithm may change, your account won’t be affected by the change so you know you’ll always have the best chance to be seen.
- Free Tik Tok swag:
Pretty self explanatory right? TikTok loves it’s creators so they have no problem sending out free swag to those they love most. Who doesn’t love free?
- Verified accounts with the blue check mark: see mine below…
- Tik Tok will allow influencers to shoot video at Tik Tok headquarters. They’ve created designated areas where creators can go to shoot video and get inspired! They’ve even created an outdoor area for creators who film with their furry companions. How sweet is that?!
- Tik Tok will allow influencers to go to the Hype House and shoot videos there with other influencers for more impact on collaborations. What’s the Hype House? It’s basically a mansion that’s being rented out by TikTok stars, that’s sole purpose is to create more content.
- Sponsored opportunities:
Brands could have you (the creator) attend and promote their events. This is a great opportunity for you to meet other brand ambassadors, network, and showcase who you are to a different audience gaining new eyes on your brand.
- Free products:
Some brands will allow you to have their products for free as part of a deal to create content and promote their brand. Of course, you’d be working out the details with the brand.
- Paid products:
As you become more established, brands will be coming to you to collaborate. This could possibly mean that you could be getting paid by post, video, or monthly. What’s even better is when you get paid and get free products to promote the brand. Some brands will pay to fly you out (all expenses paid), so you can meet the team and get more inspiration before you head home and promote the brand.
I hope you’re as hyped as I am about this exciting opportunity to ultimately be seen and grow your business to new heights.
I can’t wait to see all your success friend!
