So, I bet you’ve heard that in order to grow your email list you have to provide something for free whether it’s a lead magnet, short challenge, or a guide of some sort before you could make an offer for one of your paid programs.
What if I told you that you could offer something valuable for free, grow your email list, AND make money all at the same time?!
It sounds too good to be true, right? Well, guess what? It’s not!
The first key to making money while simultaneously growing your email list is to realize that your free offers (lead magnets, challenges, etc) do not have to be totally separate from your paid offers. You can totally mix and match them to create an offer stack that packs such a punch people can’t resist.
How do you do that? I’m so glad you asked!
First, make sure that your paid offer is cohesive with your free offer. You want each offer to build off the prior one with increased value and benefit. For example, if you are offering a free 7-day challenge, an upsell could be video coaching that further breaks down the concepts in the challenge.
Or maybe you have a free guide that gives people content ideas for what to post on social media. Your upsell could be a resource that teaches people how to save two hours a week by repurposing the content they will be creating.
I once had a client in the network marketing industry implement this same concept. And she ended up bringing in over $7000 in sales in the first 24 hours after launching! She was offering a free 10-day branding challenge for network marketers to learn how to brand themselves online.
Hold up… $7K in 24 hours on a free offer?! Yes, you read that right!
You want to know how we did it? Of course you do!
We had been building up the anticipation for this challenge and had created a waitlist of interested participants. Once the offer went live and participants signed up for the 10-day branding challenge they were offered an upsell of video coaching for $49. This didn’t take my client much effort to fulfill on. She recorded the videos in advance and they were sent out each day to those who opted in via email. 29% of the challenge participants chose this offer.
The next offer was a 90-day jumpstart program for network marketers to grow their business for $297. 39% of people who chose the video coaching also opted into the 90-day jumpstart.
The final offer was an in-depth program on magnetic leadership for participants who wanted to dive deep into the levels of leadership and learn how to grow a large team. This program cost $497 and 41% of people who opted into the previous upsells also opted into this program.
Do you see how easy that was? Each of the upsells worked well together and was a natural progression, offering a deeper level of service and knowledge at each step.
