It was me, laptop on the kitchen counter, flipping pancakes with one hand while sending invoices with the other.

By Monday, I already needed another weekend. Which is… not the point of weekends.

Enter: Automation

Here’s the thing: automation isn’t about robots stealing jobs or some sci-fi takeover. It’s about training your business to stop acting like a clingy toddler who needs your attention every 4 seconds.

The one that saved me? Automating client onboarding + delivery with Zapier.

Sounds almost too simple. But that one system was the difference between:

Spending Saturdays chasing down payments…
vs.
Spending Saturdays at the park with my kids while money + welcome emails handled themselves.

The Exact Playbook

Here’s what my automation does step by step:

Trigger: Client pays invoice (Stripe, PayPal, whatever).
Zap: Payment triggers the workflow.
Actions:
- Client gets a thank-you email immediately (no delay, no “oops I forgot”).
- Resource or contract is automatically sent.
- A project management task auto-generates for my team.
- Client gets a “next steps” form so I’m not chasing them down for info.

That’s it. I built it once. It runs every time.

It’s the least glamorous “hack” ever – but it gave me back two full days a week.

Why It Works

Automation isn’t just about saving clicks. It’s about saving brain space.

Closed loops = calm brain. No more lying in bed wondering, “Did I send that invoice?”
Consistency = trust. Every client gets the same seamless experience, even if I’m out living life.
Energy conservation = more creativity. I’d rather use my brain for creating content or writing frameworks than remembering to attach a PDF.

The Big Lesson

Freedom doesn’t come from adding more hustle. It comes from removing the tasks that never should’ve been on your plate in the first place.

One automation = two days of freedom.
