Being the industry guru that you are, you have a crystal clear vision of how your ideal client thinks and what makes them tick, right? Well… Ummmm… Let’s face it, this is not always the case.
What if I told you that there is a simple way to not only find your ideal client but also understand their pain points, what they worry about and then use this information to successfully serve them with your product or service in order to solve those problems?
The key is finding out where they congregate. In our digital age, one of the most valuable resources we have at our disposal is…You guessed it, Facebook groups!
It is in these groups where people will share common interests, ask questions, express their opinions, you know, their deepest, darkest secrets 🙂 etc.
This is such a powerful tool for business owners and all we need to do is tap into it so that we can truly connect with our clients, or as social media managers, our client’s clients.
Great, so you know WHERE to find your ideal client… NOW, WHAT?
It’s very simple, I’m going to show you how I go about getting this information without straight out asking.
All we need to do is follow 4 steps, so let’s get hacking 🙂
- Select your product (or the problem your product solves)
My friend and founder of Clickfunnels, Russell Brunson expertly points out that “To have an impact on your audience, you must understand their pain points”
One of the great things about social media is the ability to find and connect with groups of like-minded people. And for us marketers it’s a great place to research and acquire invaluable information about the people we serve.
For this example let’s use skincare.
- Search keywords
The skincare market is valued globally well over $100 billion dollars. We spend tons of money on skincare products in the hopes that it’ll solve a problem, let’s take a look at what those may be and use them as keyword searches.
You may want to look up “wrinkles” or “aging” and see what questions people are asking that relate to your keywords. What’s really neat is that you can join several Facebook groups that honestly hold your dream people and then start searching for the questions that they’re asking using their own words.
See what they’re talking about, what they’re worried about, what keeps them up at night. Look up words such as aging and find out what their concerns are, like, are they getting enough water? Does this product contain parabens or harmful chemicals? Etc.
You’ll often find that you’ll be joining groups that you wouldn’t have thought of looking into on your own.
- Compile a list
The next step, and what I like to do, is to create a google document with all the questions listed out. This keeps everything in one place and ordered.
- Look for trends
TikTok is a platform I’m especially passionate about. When I see what things people are asking about I can look for trends in particular questions and create a lead magnet around it.
For example, there are a lot of people asking about hashtags and the algorithm or how to get your first fifty followers. Those are all great questions that people are asking so I should probably create a lead magnet around those two things.
So that is how I do the research and honestly hack the exact questions that my ideal person is searching for and turn it into an incredible lead magnet that serves my client without them even having to ask me.
