Ahhh breaking news, TikTok just released something and I’m going to share it with you! Are you ready for it!? I’m going to show you exactly how to go live on TikTok!
As some of you know I shut down my Instagram and moved over to TikTok, where I’ve already grown from 36k to 80k organically, have had 7.9 million views on my videos and generated $1,000’s without doing a lot of work.
What Is TikTok Live ?
TikTok is the latest trend in social media. It’s what Instagram was ten years ago and Vine a few years before that! Over the course of a few years it has taken on the world by storm and one things for sure, It’s here to stay! Since it’s continuously evolving, TikTok regularly adds more features to the platform and the newest one being TikTok Live! The TikTok live stream feature gives you the opportunity to use TikTok as your center stage, giving you the ability to connect with your audience at a personal level! But unlike other social media platforms, they are not allowing just anybody to live stream. So let’s find out if that’s you and jump on to TikTok Live!
Can I Go Live On TikTok ?
TikTok set two standards before you can access the TikTok Live feature, one has to do with your age and the other with how many followers you have. So for starters, TikTok is only allowing people over the age of 16 to live stream, and you have to be over the age of 18 to get gifts. In addition the minimum requirement to go live is, you need over 1000 followers. Need help to grow your following? Check out this post I created to help you get your first 100o followers!
If this sound like you, let’s get moving! I added a video walkthrough and step-by-step tutorial below!
video walkthrough – How To Go Live On TikTok !
How To Live Stream On TikTok Step-By-Step Tutorial
- Launch the TikTok app, then tap the plus at the bottom of your screen.
- You are going to go about it the same way as you start a video and go to the Live section next to your recording button. Where it says “ask me anything” you can add a catchy title such as “Going live until my phone dies”, then tap Go Live to begin your live stream
- There are some crazy filters behind the scenes that you can use, such as smoothing your skin, this gets really creepy! You can enlarge your eyes and you can reshape your face, which is a little bit weird if you ask me…
Once you’ve gone live you can see how many viewers you had, new followers and Gift Points received.
You can make these videos really fun by playing games and just making them exciting and engaging for your viewers.
TikTok livestreaming Tip #1: Make sure the lighting is good and your camera is in focus
The first thing you want to do is check your lighting and your camera. You want to make sure the lighting is good, that you have adequate light for your shot. You also want to check and make sure the camera is in focus – if it’s not in focus, a lot of people will think it’s blurry or they won’t be able to see what you’re doing at all.
TikTok livestreaming Tip #2: Show your face and make eye contact with the camera.
The second thing you want to do is show your face and make eye contact with the camera.
You don’t have to stare at it constantly, but if for some reason you need a break or there’s something in front of your lens – like an audience member who asks a weird question, just try to pause and turn away from the camera so that people can still see what’s going on. This way they know you’re not ignoring them!
TikTok livestreaming Tip #3: Keep attention by interacting with the chat
The third thing you want to do is keep attention by interacting with the chat.
This can be as simple as acknowledging someone’s comment, or more involved like asking questions! Don’t forget that people are watching and sometimes they’ll get bored if all you’re doing is watching the chat for too long.
So it helps to intermix behind the scenes content into your lives or multi-tasking while live streaming.
TikTok livestreaming Tip #4: Practice in advance to get a feel for what works best for you
The fourth thing you can do is practice in advance. This will help give you a feeling for what works best for your content, and it’ll also eliminate some of the awkwardness when you’re live!
This doesn’t have to be anything fancy–you could just take two minutes before going live and ask yourself ‘what am I going to say?’ or ‘how will this feel if someone asks me that question during my livestream?’
TikTok livestreaming Tip #5: Have talking points and prepared questions in case no one asks any questions
The fifth thing you can do is have a few talking points and prepared questions in case no one asks any questions. This will keep your broadcast moving, and it’ll help you address some of the topics that are important to your viewers!
I like to multi-task during my livestreams in case no one is super talkative – so it gives us all something to do.
TikTok livestreaming Tip #6: Have fun! Remember that people interact more with people who are having a good time
The sixth thing you can do to ensure your livestreaming experience is a success is have fun! Remember that people interact more with people who are having a good time, and if they notice the good vibes it’s going to make them feel better too.
I hope these live streaming tips have helped you get started on your TikTok journey.
