The Best Way to Land Dream 1:1 Clients

By Rachel Pedersen

Let’s just get this out of the way: I don’t cold pitch.
I don’t slide into DMs begging people to “hop on a call.”
And I don’t believe in waiting around for “the algorithm” to magically drop clients into your lap either.

I’ve tried all those things. They don’t work as promised.

If you’ve ever wondered where all the GOOD clients are hiding – the ones who respect your boundaries, pay your full rate, and don’t ghost after discovery calls – this is the post I wish I’d had 10 years ago.

It’s the same system I’ve used to build an 8-figure business with zero outside funding, while raising three kids, during burnout, and even… during flight delays.

Let’s break down the actual strategy (and psychology) behind consistently booking dream clients – even when it feels like nobody’s hiring.

1. Show Up Where They’re Already Looking for Help

Every time someone tells me “I’m not getting any leads,” I ask one question:

“Where are you showing up as the solution to their problem?”

Here’s what I’ve taught inside Clique (and to my own team):
Your dream clients are already searching for someone like you. But if your visibility strategy is silent, scattered, or vague – they’ll scroll right past.

Where they are:

  • TikTok (yep, even the older, corporate ones)
  • Niche Facebook groups
  • Podcasts, summits, events
  • Email newsletters they trust
  • Browsing free trainings on the exact topic you offer

What to do:

  • Pick 1–2 of these and show up daily with real value (not just “tips”… teach them something that makes them DM you immediately)
  • Share wins and results – not just advice
  • Talk directly to the problem they think they have, and then bridge it to what you really solve

2. Talk Like a Human – Not a Headline

One of the fastest ways to repel great clients? Sounding like everyone else.

If your content reads like:

“Boost Your Brand with High-Converting Funnel Strategies Using AI-Optimized Metrics”

They’re gone.

What works better? Talking like you would in a voice memo.
This is what I teach all my Clique students:

“Good content is a mirror, not a megaphone.”

Use their exact words back to them. Start with the things they say when they’re frustrated, overwhelmed, or second-guessing everything.

Instead of “My signature offer,” try:

“Here’s what I created for the people who always ask me this one question…”

Instead of “Apply for my premium package,” try:

“Here’s how one of my students landed a dream client in 7 days using this exact offer…”

3. Leverage the “Micro-Moment” Strategy

Let me tell you exactly what I did during a flight delay at the airport in San Francisco:

I opened my laptop.
I wrote a short description of a passive offer I’d been thinking about for weeks.
I gave it a clear name.
I uploaded one training I’d already filmed.
I set up a checkout page and posted it.

It wasn’t perfect. It wasn’t “branded.”
But it did make money. And more importantly, it helped people.

And it also reached people I wanted to work with as dream clients.

We dive deep into this inside Clique – and it’s how dozens of our students are launching offers during school pickup lines, coffee breaks, or literal layovers.

Inside Clique, we teach the entire micro-offer creation system, from idea to income.

4. Make It Ridiculously Easy for Them to Say Yes

High-level clients aren’t confused.
They’re overwhelmed.

They don’t need 14 pricing tiers, 7 offer options, and 3 different calendars to choose from.
They need:

  • Clear positioning
  • A simple way to say yes
  • Proof that you’re the right person

Here’s what works:

  • One clear CTA per post
  • Booking links without friction
  • Testimonials that focus on outcomes and results, not just nice words
  • Offers with “built-in” results (e.g. frameworks, templates, systems)

One thing I always recommend: Start naming your processes.

I didn’t say “my method for launching in one sitting.” I said “The 24 Hour Content Machine.”
Simple name. Clear promise. Memorable.

5. Referrals = Still the GOAT

The best clients still come from one place: word of mouth.
But you can engineer referrals without being cringey.

What I teach:

  • Always share client wins (even small ones)
  • Create a referral program that rewards results (not just sales)
  • Keep in touch with past clients (they’ll often refer the next one)
  • Send “permission-based asks” like:

“Hey! I’ve opened up 2 new spots this month for a new private offer. Know anyone who’d be a great fit?”

Referrals are a system – not a surprise. Treat it like one.

6. Build the Type of Brand That Attracts 2 Types of Clients:

  1. The ones who’ve followed you silently for 6 months
  2. The ones who DM you after your first video

Both are watching.
Both are deciding.
And both will come to you when your positioning makes it painfully obvious you’re the one.

Here’s how I do this (and how we teach it inside Clique):

  • Content pillars that solve real problems
  • Weekly wins shared (even small ones)
  • Client results used as education, not just promotion
  • Repeating your message often – because people are busy

You’ll get known as the go-to in your niche without having to shout.

7. Protect Your Energy

Here’s something nobody tells you:

Most people fail at client attraction because they’re too tired to show up with the energy that magnetizes clients.

This doesn’t mean you need to be bubbly 24/7. It means you need to:

  • Stop overdelivering to underpaying clients
  • Raise your rates with proof, not guilt
  • Create client boundaries like business policies, not emotional negotiations
  • Say no without writing a novel to explain it

The more you protect your peace, the easier it becomes to attract aligned, ready-to-pay clients.

Final Word: Dream Clients Aren’t Rare. They’re Just Waiting for You to Lead.

That’s what we dive deep into inside Clique.
We build systems that work around your life, your offers, and your zone of genius.

Someone commented on this video and said my content catches them off guard, because it’s like a mix between businesstok and a finsta AND THAT IS THE BIGGEST COMPLIMENT ❤️ I want to give you everything you need to succeed but also show you my personality! 👯‍♀️

One comment can absolutely throw off your whole mo One comment can absolutely throw off your whole mood.

That does not mean you are fragile.
It means you are a person with a nervous system and a phone and a business and eyeballs.

Very normal.

The part that matters is what you do next.

Because the second you read something rude, your brain gets loud fast.

Your chest tightens.
Your fingers get fast.
And suddenly you are writing a full legal brief in your head like this stranger has personally been chosen for your closing argument.

I get it.

But reacting and leading are not the same thing.

Reacting is about relief.
Leading is about control.

And if you answer from the spike, it usually does two things:
makes the room feel weird
and leaves you feeling gross after

No win there.

Also, not every comment deserves the same energy.

Some people are confused.
Some are projecting.
Some are bored and using your comment section like a hobby.

Those are different.

So before you reply, ask yourself what is actually happening here.

Is this a real objection my quiet buyers might have too?
Is this my person, or just a random drive by with Wi Fi and opinions?
Is there something useful to clarify for the people reading without saying a word?

That is the shift.

Do not defend for the sake of defending.
Diagnose for the sake of the audience.

If somebody says, “this is stupid, this won’t work,” you do not need to perform confidence.

You can just say:
Totally fair question. What part feels unrealistic to you?

That response does a lot.

It slows the temperature down.
It makes the other person get specific.
And it shows the rest of the room that you are not rattled just because someone coughed in your direction.

Same thing with the classic “you’re just trying to sell.”

Okay.
And?

You can answer that without getting weird.

Clarity is not manipulation.
An offer is not a crime.
And calm does not mean passive.

So today, pick your move:
ignore the noise
ask one clean question
or turn the objection into content and help the people quietly watching

That is leadership.

If I lost it all tomorrow no followers, no list, n If I lost it all tomorrow
no followers, no list, no proof, no cute little receipts to point at

I would not waste a week trying to look established.

That is where people lose so much time.

They try to look polished first.
Professional first.
Credible first.

And meanwhile nobody knows they exist.

No thank you.

If I had to rebuild, I would get visible immediately.

Short form video.
Raw.
Hook first.
Saying something real.
Not waiting until the lighting is flattering and the brand voice is having a good hair day.

Because the invisible stage is not the stage to over-style.

It is the prove it stage.
The rocky montage stage.
The “say something useful before your fear talks you out of it” stage.

And yes, the panic would absolutely try to jump in.

It would say:
you’re behind
you’re doomed
you had your shot

Cool.
Very dramatic.
But wrong.

Because sometimes losing the old version is not doom.
It is freedom.

No stale identity to protect.
No old audience to keep happy.
No pressure to keep performing as the version of you that built the first thing.

Just data.
Movement.
Rebuild.

So week one?

I would post daily.
I would repeat the hooks that hit.
I would build a tiny freebie before it was ready and let it be a little embarrassing.
Mine have been ugly before too. Still worked.

Because followers with no list is just noise with good lighting.

I would rather have 73 people on an email list who actually care than a pile of views and no way to catch them.

And yes, I would manually DM the link if I had to.
Like it is 2016.
Like I have bills.
Like I am not above doing what works before it looks impressive.

I do not need a head start.

I need a plan.
And I would make one fast.
