Want to Hit $100K/Month as a Freelancer in 2025? These 4 Steps Changed Everything

By Rachel Pedersen

(Real strategies from someone who actually did it – while juggling toddlers, burnout, and clients who “just had a quick revision”…)

$100K/month sounds flashy. But it’s not magic, luck, or being a blue-check “influencer freelancer.” It’s about systems. Real strategy. And doing what actually works – over and over again – until you look up and realize you’re not just paying the bills… you’re building a business you run, not one that runs you into the ground.

I’ve built a multi-7-figure business from the ground up. From $15/hr jobs and Craigslist gigs to $25K/month retainers, booked-out coaching programs, and students who now hit six figures per month too.

These are the 4 game-changing steps I used (and still use) to grow from freelance hustle… to full-blown freedom.

1. Raise Your Rates – But With Strategy, Not Vibes

Let’s be honest: “Raise your rates” is the most overused advice on the internet.

But here’s what no one tells you: charging more only works if you know how to back it up.

I didn’t start at premium rates. I started charging $272/month for social media management. (And I thought I was killing it.) But once I realized that $272/month meant I needed 30+ clients just to survive… I started thinking differently.

Here’s what actually helped me raise rates – and get clients to say yes to them:

  • I built offers around outcomes, not tasks. Clients don’t care about how many posts you schedule – they care about reach, conversions, growth.
  • I learned to say “No” without spiraling. If someone tried to lowball me, I didn’t panic. I positioned myself like the expert I already was.
  • I practiced the scripts. So I wasn’t caught off guard in pricing convos. (These exact scripts are in my [Freelancer Tough Conversations Pack] if you need help there.)

Eventually, $1K/month became $4K… then $8K… then $25K retainers.

Want to find out exactly what you should be charging based on your goals, expenses, and time?
Grab my Freelancer Calculator – it’ll give you a crystal-clear number, fast.

2. Get Crystal Clear on Your Signature Offer

If you’re still customizing every offer, pricing every project from scratch, or chasing “just one more client”… it’s time to simplify.

When I created my signature client offer, everything clicked:

  • I could explain it in 60 seconds.
  • I knew what to charge without blinking.
  • I had the systems to deliver it without burning out.

Here’s how to get there:

  • Pick one outcome you’re amazing at delivering. (Not ten.)
  • Build a clear path to get clients from Point A to Point B.
  • Price it based on value, not hours.
  • Say no to scope creep. (Seriously – say it out loud right now: “That’s not included in this offer.”)

When you know what you do, how you do it, and why it works, you become the obvious choice. That’s how clients say “yes” to $5K or $10K packages without hesitation.

3. Build an Inbound Lead Engine (So You Don’t Have to Pitch Forever)

Yes, I used to cold pitch. Craigslist, Upwork, local businesses – I’ve done it all.

But at some point, you realize: if every lead depends on you chasing, your business can’t scale. Not sustainably.

That’s when I created my invisible content funnel. And no – I’m not talking about complex automations or funnels that make your head hurt.

Here’s what I mean:

  • Short-form video that builds credibility while I sleep
  • Micro-case studies that position me as the expert
  • Caption frameworks that turn lurkers into leads
  • Simple CTAs that drive them to DM me, not the other way around

This system brings in leads daily – even when I’m offline or on the floor playing with my kids.

Want the system I use to create 30 days of content in under 3 hours?
Grab the 30-Minute Content Hack – it’s my exact batching strategy (plus B-roll prompts, hooks, and caption ideas that sell).

4. Think (and Build) Like a CEO – Not a “Just a Freelancer”

This was the hardest shift for me. For a long time, I didn’t feel like a CEO. I felt like a tired freelancer with a mountain of client work and a baby on my hip.

But if you want to scale beyond the grind – beyond being the only one doing the work, sending the invoices, fixing tech issues, managing emails – you have to start building for the future.

That meant:

  • Hiring support (even part-time) before I felt “ready”
  • Creating SOPs and systems that someone else could follow
  • Auditing what only I should be doing – and letting go of the rest
  • Separating my business identity from my personal confidence

Was it scary? Yes.
Was it worth it? More than I can say.

That’s when I finally had breathing room.
That’s when my income exploded – without the constant hustle.

The Bootstrapping Business Owners Guide is perfect if you’re ready to delegate, automate, and scale without a massive team or budget.

Final Step? Get in the Room with People Who Get It

You can have the strategy.
You can have the skills.
But if you’re surrounded by people who still think freelancing means “side hustle” or “hobby,” scaling feels lonely.

One of the biggest accelerators in my journey? Being in community with other growth-minded freelancers and business owners who challenged me to think bigger.

That’s exactly why I created The Social Clique – my mentorship program designed for service providers and freelancers who are serious about building a business that makes six and seven figures (without selling your soul to hustle culture).

Inside, you get:

  • Access to 180+ trainings
  • Daily content prompts
  • The $100K Blueprint + Toolkit
  • My Client Attraction Machine system
  • And the support you actually need to grow and stay consistent

Want to surround yourself with strategy and support?
Join The Social Clique – doors are open right now, and you don’t have to do this alone anymore.

Final Word

If you’re still here, let me tell you something most people won’t:

You’re already capable of hitting $100K/month.
You don’t need another degree.
You don’t need a million followers.
You need a strategy – one that works for you – and the mindset to execute it like the leader you already are.

These 4 steps aren’t just what I teach – they’re how I got here.

Now it’s your turn!

One comment can absolutely throw off your whole mo One comment can absolutely throw off your whole mood.

That does not mean you are fragile.
It means you are a person with a nervous system and a phone and a business and eyeballs.

Very normal.

The part that matters is what you do next.

Because the second you read something rude, your brain gets loud fast.

Your chest tightens.
Your fingers get fast.
And suddenly you are writing a full legal brief in your head like this stranger has personally been chosen for your closing argument.

I get it.

But reacting and leading are not the same thing.

Reacting is about relief.
Leading is about control.

And if you answer from the spike, it usually does two things:
makes the room feel weird
and leaves you feeling gross after

No win there.

Also, not every comment deserves the same energy.

Some people are confused.
Some are projecting.
Some are bored and using your comment section like a hobby.

Those are different.

So before you reply, ask yourself what is actually happening here.

Is this a real objection my quiet buyers might have too?
Is this my person, or just a random drive by with Wi Fi and opinions?
Is there something useful to clarify for the people reading without saying a word?

That is the shift.

Do not defend for the sake of defending.
Diagnose for the sake of the audience.

If somebody says, “this is stupid, this won’t work,” you do not need to perform confidence.

You can just say:
Totally fair question. What part feels unrealistic to you?

That response does a lot.

It slows the temperature down.
It makes the other person get specific.
And it shows the rest of the room that you are not rattled just because someone coughed in your direction.

Same thing with the classic “you’re just trying to sell.”

Okay.
And?

You can answer that without getting weird.

Clarity is not manipulation.
An offer is not a crime.
And calm does not mean passive.

So today, pick your move:
ignore the noise
ask one clean question
or turn the objection into content and help the people quietly watching

That is leadership.

If I lost it all tomorrow no followers, no list, n If I lost it all tomorrow
no followers, no list, no proof, no cute little receipts to point at

I would not waste a week trying to look established.

That is where people lose so much time.

They try to look polished first.
Professional first.
Credible first.

And meanwhile nobody knows they exist.

No thank you.

If I had to rebuild, I would get visible immediately.

Short form video.
Raw.
Hook first.
Saying something real.
Not waiting until the lighting is flattering and the brand voice is having a good hair day.

Because the invisible stage is not the stage to over-style.

It is the prove it stage.
The rocky montage stage.
The “say something useful before your fear talks you out of it” stage.

And yes, the panic would absolutely try to jump in.

It would say:
you’re behind
you’re doomed
you had your shot

Cool.
Very dramatic.
But wrong.

Because sometimes losing the old version is not doom.
It is freedom.

No stale identity to protect.
No old audience to keep happy.
No pressure to keep performing as the version of you that built the first thing.

Just data.
Movement.
Rebuild.

So week one?

I would post daily.
I would repeat the hooks that hit.
I would build a tiny freebie before it was ready and let it be a little embarrassing.
Mine have been ugly before too. Still worked.

Because followers with no list is just noise with good lighting.

I would rather have 73 people on an email list who actually care than a pile of views and no way to catch them.

And yes, I would manually DM the link if I had to.
Like it is 2016.
Like I have bills.
Like I am not above doing what works before it looks impressive.

I do not need a head start.

I need a plan.
And I would make one fast.
