Ever wonder how I’m able to post so often? I’ll let you in on the secret…

BATCH RECORDING.

No, I do NOT do my hair & make-up every day. LOL…good one!

Let me show you the real process I go through whenever I want to create video content.

Research

Do not skip this step. I REPEAT.

DO NOT. SKIP. THIS STEP.

Research is essential to curating relevant content that your audience will interact with regularly.

Know what is top of mind in your AUDIENCE’s industry.

How do you do that? See what’s trending and make it your own!

Here are a few ways that I use to quickly brainstorm ideas:

  1. Research what’s trending on the specific social media platform you’d like to create content for. (5-10mins should be good)

  2. Create own ideas based off of what you observe

  3. Look at old vines and memes for inspiration

  4. Bust out the Someecards!

  5. Keep up with Twitter humor ????

Reminder: Batch Recording means Batch Research.

Look for trends, ideas, and challenges that you could easily record all at once.

This will save you soooo much time in the planning and prep phases.

Aim for 3-10 concepts to record, each and every session.

    Audio

Your music may already be chosen, if you picked a challenge. Perfect!

With that in mind, make sure your audio is different from other big challenges if you’re filming your own concept.

    Royalty-Free Music

Just like photos, make sure that you’re using royalty-free music as well!

Here are two places you can find a plethora of royalty-free audio files to feed that creative soul.

    1. YouTube Audio Library

    2. NoCopyrightSounds

      Prep

      You’re almost ready to record!

      Time to prep:

      1. Hair & Make-up: Do you!

Stay on brand. For some of you, that will mean full hair and make-up.

For others, that will mean a messy bun and pajamas. Rock it.

      2. Setting: Where are you going to record?

Take a look at the lighting and background!

Make sure to do a test check for anything off-brand.

If you’re using natural light, move the camera around and find the best lighting depending on the time of day in the room.

      3. Make something “off”:

Yes, we don’t want anything off-brand in the frame but if there’s something noticeable that stands out, people will comment. That helps you go viral!

Do things like changing props in the background, bold shoes, obviously bad hair, etc.

      4. Need a tripod? Here’s the model we recommend for its versatility.

Otherwise, use something around the house with some weight to it like a mug or a candle to prop up your phone. No need to fancy studio equipment and all the latest gadgets.

        Record
