Social Media… Novelty? Or Necessity?

You’ve probably heard the argument “there is no return on investment on social media”. An interesting argument, but worth looking into. I want to explain what I have found in my years of working in social media.

The social media platforms I have worked on include Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Pinterest, and Snapchat with clients in industries such as QSR, Marketing, Franchising, Technology, Retail, Beauty, and others. I’ve worked with businesses focusing on B2B as well as B2C.

Here is what I have found:

  • Using social media platforms without a clear and defined understanding of the advanced strategy behind them does not create a return on investment.
  • However, when used with strategy and a clear and defined plan, social media can drive website traffic, increase leads, promote engagement with your target market.
  • Social media can be used to directly grow your email list, with scalable results.
  • Social media also can create a branding, create PR, and assist in creating hyper-segmented campaigns to reach specific niches.
